We quickly learned from the onset of the pandemic that people in lower-income socioeconomic groups were taking on a greater burden, with risk of exposure and the greater incidences of COVID-19 deaths. Frank Elgar, a professor at McGill University and Canada Research Chair in Social Inequality in Child Health, has uncovered the reasons why income equality leads to poorer health outcomes.
