This week saw renewed calls for the federal government to revoke the Safe Third Country agreement with the United States and to allow international refugees travelling from the U.S. into Canada without facing arrest. While the federal Conservatives oppose such a move, various legal decisions support the need for Canada to be more open to refugees arriving via the U.S. The Agenda discusses the impact that the increased flow of refugees will have on other refugee programs and on public policy.
