Host Maureen Taylor introduces the fifth show in a series of twenty-six. (Season 3) The field item deals with "the lucky polios" - people who survived the polio virus, fought their way backs from paralysis, and went on to lead full and productive lives. But decades after their original polio, thousands of these survivors are discovering their have post polio syndrome - a progressive and debilitating condition with symptons that are all too familiar. Maureen Taylor's studio guest is Gavin Cl;ark, professor of Microbiology at U of T who discusses bioterrorism. Dr. Paul Caldwell's subject this week is "the rythm of the heart" and pacemakers.
