4th Reading

A special full edition report on hospital closings in Ontario. Steve is joined by Dr. Duncan Sinclair, the chairman of the Health Services Restructuring Commission. He's been charged by the provincial government with "rationalizing" the province's network of hospitals, and designing a more efficient, community-based system. So far, the commission has ordered the closure or merger of 24 hospitals, including 10 in Toronto. Tonight joining Dr. Sinclair is health care consultant Jane Fulton, Charles Robinson, CEO of Meaford General Hospital, and Ruth Cartwright of the Victorian Order of Nurses. As well, we'll have documentary reports on Meaford Hospital, the francophone Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, and a day in the life of a VON nurses as she makes her home calls.
