More To Life

Hunting for the perfect book for the child on your list can feel like an exercise in futility. From the "Treasure Islands, to the "Captain Underpants" the choices are endless and the quality isn't all that clear. Here to help and give us some recommendations is our crack children's book panel. Mary Riehle is from the "Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" children's bookstore. Ken Setterington is the children and youth advocate from the Toronto Public Library and the co-author of "A Guide to Canadian Children's Books" And Eleanor LeFave is from "Mabel's Fables" children's bookstore. Barbie dolls have been the favourite toy for many girls for several generations. But Barbie bears little resemblance to the average Canadian woman. Nor does she reflect our multicultural society. In recent years, there have been more realistic and even ethnic dolls, but Canadian girls have been left out in the cold - until now. Kathryn Gallagher Morton is the inventor of the Maplelea doll, a doll that reflects the distinct regions of Canada. This show contains one Imprint segment "Peter Rabbit".
