Archive: Education Reform: Ten Years Later

4th Reading

Standardized tests, a new curriculum, a college of teachers to ensure accountability. Just some of the education reforms initiated by the Royal Commission on Learning a decade ago. Ten years after this radical blueprint to reform Ontario's education system was released, a special full show edition of Studio 2 evaluates the many changes that were adopted. Is our system better than it was a decade ago? Special guests include co-chair of the commission, Gerry Caplan, education advocate Annie Kidder, Rhonda Kimberley-Young, President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation and the 4th Reading Panel: Former NDP Education Minister David Cooke, Former Liberal Education Minister Sean Conway and Former Progressive Conservative Education Minister Janet Ecker.
