Archive: Down in the Mouth

The Science Café

A presentation by Cathie Spencer of the Ontario Science Centre reveals how the digestive process begins in the mouth and what happens to food when it is swallowed. We see animation of the human digestive process along with X-Ray footage of a human eating. An experiment with a potato slice helps to explain how saliva breaks down starch to sugar.
