Sidewalk Labs has been a controversial project from the beginning - a plan to develop a 12-acre site on the Toronto waterfront, creating a high tech, data-driven neighbourhood. Privacy and transparency concerns, and now potentially an issue around taxation and development fees have complicated an already complex undertaking.
