Byron says HI MY NAME IS BYRON APPLES AND I HAVE A COUPLE OF FILMS
THAT WERE ACCEPTED THIS YEAR.
ONE OF THEM IS A PUBLIC
SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
CALLED
REMEMBRANCE 2000
THAT WAS FILMED IN EUROPE
AND IT'S ABOUT VETERANS
AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION
TO CANADA AND TO
THE WORLD.
THE SECOND FILM IS CALLED
THE SAND-WICH PROJECT.
AND IT'S BASICALLY A DOCUMENTARY
ON A HIGH SCHOOL EVENT
THAT WAS ORGANIZED
TO HAVE A BANQUET

A clip of the movie shows students dishing banquet food to homeless people.

Byron says OUT ON THE CORNER OF YONGE
AND SHERBOURNE FOR THE POOR.
SO ANYONE WHO WANTED
TO COME COULD COME.

A clip shows a man in his fifties with long white hair and a white beard. He is
wearing a red jacket and baseball cap. The other man has a brown beard and long
brown hair. He wears a purple and yellow jacket.

A Homeless Man says THE HOMELESS PEOPLE
COME BY HERE.
AND YOU PEOPLE ARE
PROVIDING US WITH FOOD.
YOUR GRATUITIES, YOUR
LOVE, YOUR DEVOTION
AND EVERYTHING
AND YOUR MUSIC.
AND WE LIKE THAT.

A student appears in her twenties with braids and wearing earrings. She is
wearing a
black jacket. Another student is wearing a black jacket with a hood and is also
in his twenties.

A Female Student says SO WE'RE HAVING A GREAT
TIME OUT HERE IN THE SNOW.

A Male Student says EVEN THOUGH IT'S APRIL.

A Female Student says OUR HEARTS ARE
KEEPING US WARM.

The clip continues with students gesturing to the camera, dancing and homeless
people sitting at tables and eating.

Byron says I THINK BOTH OF MY WORKS
HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY
ABOUT WHAT IT IS
TO BE HUMAN.
I'D LIKE TO THINK THAT BOTH OF
THEM PUT OUT A POSITIVE VIBE.
AND ESPECIALLY IN OUR AGE AND
THE WORLD THAT WE LIVE IN
AND WITH ALL THAT'S
GOING AROUND.
I THINK IT'S CRITICAL THAT
WE HAVE A POSITIVE VOICE,
SOMETHING OUT THERE THAT
SAYS, YOU KNOW WHAT,
THE WORLD IS NOT
ALL THAT BAD
AND THERE ARE BEAUTIFUL
THINGS IN IT.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO
ACKNOWLEDGE THOSE THINGS.

AS AN ARTIST, AS A
DIRECTOR, AS A CREATOR,
THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE
SOMETHING THAT WAS YOUR OWN,
AND TO HAVE YOUR VOICE OUT.
AND MORE IMPORTANTLY FOR ME, TO
BE A VOICE FOR OTHER PEOPLE,
TO SPEAK FOR THE PEOPLE WHO
CAN'T SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES,
TO STICK UP FOR THEM
IN THAT WAY.

In the closing sequence flashing lights appear in red, blue and green and the
word "underground" appears in block white letters.
