Transcript: An Update | May 05, 2021

YUSUF ZINE:
Are we recording?
Okay.
I'm Yusuf Zine,
and this is an update.
We were planning to have
a new episode
ready for you today.
This is the one where we examine
the cause of death,
and important new
court documents,
and wrap up our
six-part story.
But as we were working
on the final touches,
we got an e-mail.
It was a response to an
interview request
we made not too long ago,
a request I didn't think
I'd hear back from.
And so, to accommodate
this new interview,
we needed some time to include
it into our finale.
DIRK HEYER:
My name is Dirk Heyer,
I'm the Chief Coroner
for the Province of Ontario.
MICHAEL POLLANEN:
I'm Michael Pollanen,
I'm the Chief Forensic
Pathologist for the province.
DIRK:
And we co-lead
the death investigation system
for Ontario.
YUSUF:
Next time, on
Unascertained...
MICHAEL:
Just because a pathologist
indicates that the cause
of death is unascertained,
does not mean that the cause of
death is unascertainable.
In other words,
the cause of death
may very well
be ascertainable,
if you enlarge
the scope of evidence.
YUSUF:
You can listen to
the final episode,
entitled
The Fatal Blow,
on Wednesday, May 12th.
See you then.
