A colourful abstract animation shows a black square that reads "Name That Town."

An animated map appears.

A Male Announcer says NAME THAT TOWN.
WHO KINGSTON IS NAMED AFTER,
AND WHAT THAT SAYS ABOUT ONTARIO.
KINGSTON IS A CITY
BRIMMING WITH HISTORY.
IT'S THE HOME OF CANADA'S
FIRST PRIME MINISTER,
SIR JOHN A. MCDONALD.
AND THE SIGHT OF FORT HENRY,
FIRST BUILT DURING THE
WAR OF 1812.
BUT WHO IS KINGSTON
NAMED AFTER?
IT SEEMS OBVIOUS, A KING.
BUT WHICH KING?
THE ANSWER IS KING GEORGE THE THIRD,
WHO RULED BRITAIN FROM
1760 TO 1820.

An animation shows king figures against the aerial picture of a city.

He continues TODAY, GEORGE THE THIRD IS BEST
REMEMBERED FOR TWO THINGS,
ONE: THE LOSS OF THE AMERICAN
COLONIES DURING HIS REIGN.
AND TWO: HIS STRUGGLE WITH
BOUTS OF SEVER MENTAL ILLNESS,
ONCE PORTRAYED IN THE
AWARD WINNING PICTURE,
THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE.

A movie clip plays.

King George says I WANT YOU TO HAND OVER
GIBRALTAR TO SPAIN,
AND SEE IF YOU CAN ME
MINORCA IN RETURN.
DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DO THAT?

A Male Physician says I'M A PHYSICIAN, SIR.

King George says WELL, THEN YOU SHOULD
HAVE NO DIFFICULTY.

The clip ends.

The Announcer says DESPITE HIS TROUBLES,
GEORGE HAD HIS ADMIRERS,
INCLUDING AMERICANS LOYAL
TO THE CROWN.
WHEN BRITAIN LOST THE AMERICAN
WAR OF INDEPENDENCE,
THESE LOYALIST FLED THEIR HOMES
IN THE 13 COLONIES,
AND CAME IN DROVES
TO WHAT IS NOW ONTARIO.
THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT ACQUIRED
LANDS IN EASTERN ONTARIO
FROM THE MISSISSAUGA NATION, TO
SETTLE SOME OF THE REFUGEES.
THE CENTRAL SETTLEMENT
IN THE AREA
BECAME KNOWN AS "KING TOWN,"
AND LATER, "KINGSTON."

A series of pictures of a village pop up against an animated colourful background.

He continues IT WAS NATURAL THE
LOYALISTS WOULD
NAME A COMMUNITY AFTER
THEIR BELOVED KING,
BUT THEY DIDN'T STOP THERE.
OH, NO.
THERE ARE ACTUALLY MANY
PLACES IN THE PROVINCE
NAMED IN HONOUR OF EITHER
GEORGE III OR HIS RELATIVES.
LIKE GUELPH.
THE KING WAS A DESCENDENT OF
THE GUELPH DYNASTY IN GERMANY.
CORNWALL: NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S ELDEST SON,
AND THE FUTURE KING GEORGE IV,
WHO'S TITLES INCLUDED,
"DUKE OF CORNWALL."
EAST YORK: NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S SECOND SON,
THE DUKE OF YORK.
WILLIAMSBURG: NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S THIRD SON, WILLIAM,
AND THE FUTURE KING WILLIAM THE FOURTH.
EDWARDSBURGH: NAMED AFTER
GEORGES FOURTH SON.
AND THEN THERE'S CUMBERLAND:
NAMED AFTER GEORGE'S FIFTH SON,
THE DUKE OF CUMBERLAND.
GEORGE III HAD A LOT OF SONS.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL,
THERE'S GEORGINA,
NAMED AFTER GEORGE THE THIRD.
LANCASTER AND SOUTH LANCASTER:
NAMED AFTER ONE OF
GEORGE'S TITLES:
"THE DUKE OF LANCASTER."

Profiles of the monarchs mentioned pop up in circles.

He contineus AND THE OTTAWA SUBURB
OF GLOUCESTER,
NAMED IN HONOUR OF THE
DUKE OF GLUCESTER,
ONE OF GEORGE'S NEPHEWS.
AND THEN THERE'S AUGUSTA,
NAMED AFTER GEORGE'S
SECOND DAUGHTER.
AMELIASBURGH, NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S SIXTH DAUGHTER.
CLARENCE CREEK,
NAMED AFTER ONE OF THE
MANY TITLES OF
GEORGE'S THIRD SON.
ERNESTOWN, NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S FIFTH SON.
ADOLPHUSTOWN, NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S SEVENTH SON.
ALFRED, NAMED AFTER
GEORGE'S NINTH SON.
AND GEORGIAN BAY,
NAMED AFTER GEORGE THE FOURTH.

He exhales and continues IF YOU'RE KEEPING COUNT,
THAT'S AT LEAST 18 PLACES
IN ONTARIO THAT
STILL TAKE THEIR NAME FROM
GEORGE THE THIRD AND HIS FAMILY.
THE LOYALISTS HAD A PROFOUND
EFFECT ON THE POLITICS
AND DEVELOPMENT OF
EARLY ONTARIO.
AND WHILE THE PROVINCE IS NOW A
VERY DIFFERENCE PLACE
THAN THOSE EARLY DAYS,
THESE TOWN NAMES SERVE AS A
REMINDER OF THE IMPACT THESE
SETTLERS HAD ON OUR HISTORY.
