Unconventional images tell the story of Vimy Ridge

Racheal McCaig spells her first name in an unorthodox fashion, but that probably makes sense, since her photographs are rather unorthodox as well.

McCaig is the only Canadian photographer who has been invited to display her work during next April’s centennary commemoration of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France.

The Vimy memorial is one of the world’s most spectacular war monuments. We all know it because it’s on the back side of Canada’s twenty dollar bill. But McCaig’s camera captures angles and lighting you no doubt haven’t seen before.  The video above is our special Remembrance Day conversation with her.
