COVID-19 caseloads climb across the province

COVID-19 case records on back-to-back days

Ontario reported 1328 new coronavirus cases yesterday — breaking the previous record of 1,132 set Saturday. The seven-day average for number of cases is now 1,063. 

Peel adds new restrictions as case numbers soar 

Peel Region’s medical officer of health Lawrence Loh announced new health restrictions on top of those set by the province. The measures include banning wedding receptions and other large social gatherings in business establishments as of November 13; restricting bar and restaurant seating only to people in the same household; and limiting religious services to virtual ceremonies whenever possible. "These directives have been introduced because indicators that track the pandemic in Peel are trending in the wrong direction," Loh said in a news release. 

Alex Trebek dead at age 80

Ontario-born television personality Alex Trebek died yesterday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 80. Trebek, best known as the host of the long-running game show Jeopardy!, was born in Sudbury and studied at the University of Ottawa.
