What is marriage migration?

“It’s undignified to live a life of poverty. It’s also undignified to live a life of loneliness. And I think that’s where I throw my anchor, as a human being, to the people I film.” — Janus Metz

Twenty-five years ago, there were no Thai women living in Jutland, a northern region of Denmark. Today, there are more than 900 — all women who migrated there after marrying Danish men. Anthrolpologist Sine Plambech and filmmaker Janus Metz spent 10 years documenting the lives of these couples. Colin sat down with the duo during their film's screening at the Toronto International Film Festival to talk about migration marrriages. Are they really about love, or are they simply a convenient arrangement? Can they be both?
