Warm wishes from all of us at TVO

Happy New Year!
This holiday season, give the gift of learning.

As the weather cools and the days shorten, this is a wonderful time to connect with friends old and new, family near and far, and communities of every sort. The power of those moments of connection helps explain why this season is so special to so many, and is dear to us here at TVO—this same spirit is woven into everything we do.

This holiday season, we have a lot to celebrate.

I am proud to cap off a year where TVO delivered exceptional products and content to people of all ages across the province, and made great strides in connecting with Ontarians in new and innovative ways.

We launched new TVOkids and TVO ILC websites. TeachOntario and TVO’s mPower are transforming learning inside and outside the classroom with new resources and a collaborative digital space for Ontario educators, and new creative online games for young learners. The Agenda with Steve Paikin became the first program to stream the full broadcast nightly on Twitter Periscope, and is also now available on Facebook Live.

Perhaps most exciting, TVO is connecting the dots in a new way with Ontario Hubs, addressing a gap in the media landscape where current affairs in smaller communities are becoming a rare commodity. Our new team of journalists is going behind the headlines, digging deep into the issues that matter to people right across the province. TVO has successfully launched Ontario Hubs in Thunder Bay and London, and will expand its in-depth, on-the-ground regional journalism with new Ontario Hubs in Sudbury and Kingston in January.

I believe the reason why so many Ontarians value TVO is because TVO values Ontarians. Who they are. Where they live. How they learn. What matters to them and to their communities. TVO inspired over 34,000 people across the province to make philanthropic donations to our mission, which helped spark moments of connection for the 10.5 million Ontarians who watched TVO’s current affairs, documentaries, dramas, and kids’ programs.

Whether it’s around your dining room table, in your living room, or at a holiday gathering, you can count on TVO to spark those moments where learning happens during the holidays and all year round.

From all of us at TVO, we wish you peace and joy this holiday season.
