Thérèse Culnan is an Executive Financial Services professional with an extensive track record and a broad range of experience in areas including enterprise risk management, regulatory and compliance frameworks, finance, project strategy and execution, operations, training and development, and small business and commercial banking.
Recently, Thérèse served as Vice President, Finance and Operations, Global Risk Management at Scotiabank. Acting as Chief Operating Officer and reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, Thérèse planned, coordinated, managed, and advised senior executive of budget development and priorities for the operating, project and capital budgets. With the leadership team, she developed the short and long-term strategic roadmaps for credit, market, liquidity and operational risks, and ensured required funding in place.
Prior to her assignment in Global Risk, Thérèse worked and travelled throughout the Bank’s International division for many years. She was responsible for ensuring the International Corporate and Commercial portfolio, covering over 40 countries, achieved compliancy with complex and evolving regulatory requirements.
Thérèse has always balanced her professional life with volunteerism, especially working directly with older adults, as well as coordinating and organizing fundraising on their behalf. She recently acquired certifications in Fitness Instruction, Personal Training, and Nutrition.
