TORONTO, March 18, 2019 – TVO is delighted to appoint Rashmi Swarup as TVO’s new Vice President, Digital Learning.

Rashmi is a dynamic leader with a clear vision of how to prepare students with the skills and competencies they need to succeed. She brings a deep understanding of current education trends and a record of success at all levels.
Rashmi is a TED Ed Innovative Educator who is known for motivating local, global and virtual communities through online collaborative learning tools to enhance student learning. Her career in education systems and her ongoing connection with world-wide educational leaders make her a great fit at TVO.
After serving for 13 years in the Toronto and York Region District School Boards as a Curriculum Leader, Vice Principal, Principal and Special Assistant to the Director, Rashmi was appointed as Superintendent of Education with the York Region District School Board, where she served for over seven years. Prior to her time in Canada, Rashmi was a teacher, Vice Principal and Principal in India.
Her responsibilities will include leading the development of digital learning resources across all platforms for learners in Ontario and in international markets, growing TVO’s role as the Ontario Government’s non-school board delivery and innovation partner for digital learning inside and outside the classroom, and ensuring the educational integrity of our TVO Kids broadcast and online activities.
