Program #25
We know that when
men start to lose their hair, some will go to great lengths to hide
their baldness. But when the baldness is caused by an autoimmune disease,
it's hard to hide. That disease is called alopecia, and it affects men
and women, young and old.

Alopecia is one
type of autoimmune disease, and there are many other familiar diseases
fall into this catagory: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and juvenile diabetes.
Oncologist, TV host, and best-selling author, Dr. Rob Buckman has a
personal interest in autoimmune diseases and he joins us to discuss
it. Your family doctor can't see you for two weeks, and for many rural
Canadians, the doctor is an hour away. Barb Wahl is president of the
Ontario Nurses' Association and she says there's an easy answer to the
crisis in family medicine.
