Drugs for MS
There's
been alot of good news recently for people diagnosed with multiple
sclerosis. One drug delays the onset of MS: it was given to patients
at the very first symptom. And for those who have been diagnosed
with MS, but aren't yet disabled, there are drugs that can slow
the progression of disability. But these drugs are expensive, and
they don't work for everyone. In fact, they don't seem to help the
people who need them most.
High
Cost of Prescription Medication
Why do some
drugs cost so much? What can justify the 18 or 20 thousand dollars
a year price tag? A debate with Murray Elston, president of Rx
& D, an association that represents pharmaceutical companies
and Dr. Joel Lexchin, an ER doctor and a member of the Medical
Reform Group.

Ethics
of Reproductive Technology
There's
a different kind of baby boom going on in Canada. Thanks
to reproductive medicine, infertile couples are having triplets
and quadruplets like never before. But there's a downside
to these miracle babies. There are serious medical and emotional
risks to multiple births. And this has both doctors and
ethicists calling for guidelines to manage this modern epidemic.
