Studio 2 Needs Teachers!
Teachers who regularly watch Studio 2 – we’d like to hear from you!
Please send an e-mail to Lisa Fernandes at lfernandes@tvontario.org if you would like to give us some feedback as a regular Studio 2 viewer.

Students and Teachers Needed for Television!
In the spirit of TVO’s “SWAP-TV” comes a new series called “SCHOOLED”. It’s the ultimate exchange where students are given the opportunity to switch places with their teachers for 8 days. Teamwork, competition, effort and learning about others are themes that will be explored in this once in a lifetime opportunity. We are currently looking for:

-Outgoing and Energetic Students, aged 12-15 who feel that they would have something to offer today’s teachers if they had the chance to teach them. A strong skill within a particular subject/sport/art, etc. is required. We are also interested in hearing from students on how they think a school should be run & how they would teach their classes.

- Outgoing Teachers with an open mind who aren’t afraid to learn from the kids. They should have anywhere from 2 years + in a school environment. Having a speciality in a particular area would be a bonus.

If interested, please e-mail: knordal@breakthroughfilms.com

Please make sure that TVO for TEACHERS E-News is not delivered into your bulk/junk folder! Place us on your safe list!

THE VIEW FROM HERE: women and men unglued
CURRRESBLMRPT

WED feb 9 AT 10 PM
North American Premiere! Things are not what they used to be between the sexes. Feminism, divorce, and the sexual revolution have cast aside our long-held notions of gender, courtship, and marriage. Marriage is no longer the gravitational centre of our lives it once was. What’s not clear, though, is how we feel about this. Women and Men Unglued, a new documentary by Katherine Gilday, helps us to better understand this radical cultural shift. Can we find intimacy amid the new social landscape?

citizen king blmcurrresRPT
MON feb 7 and 14 at 10 pm

Canadian Premiere! The two-part documentary Citizen King explores the last five years in the life of Martin Luther King, a controversial period in which the great Civil Rights leader embarked on a difficult, often lonely path to redefine and redirect the movement he had helped create. Drawing on the personal recollections and eyewitness accounts of friends, movement associates, journalists, law enforcement officers, and historians, filmmakers Orlando Bagwell (Africans in America, Malcolm X: Make It Plain) and Noland Walker (This Far by Faith, Africans in America) try to separate the myth from the man.

first scientists CURRRESblmRPT
MON feb 21 and mar 14 AT 10 PM
First Scientists is a fascinating documentary exploring the history of aboriginal scientific and social techniques and looks at how modern science is now catching up to these ideas. Centuries before Europeans arrived in North America the continent’s First Nations had their own system of scientific exploration rooted in their culture. In many ways, aboriginal science has many parallels to modern methods honed through trial and error and hypothesis testing. In others, this traditional science and technology is fundamentally different, focusing on relationships rather than objects, on the how rather than the why, and on the heart rather than the mind.
