Young Catherine Morland is introduced to society life, after being invited to Bath by family friends, Mr. and Mrs. Allen. While there she catches the attention of General Tilney and is subsequently invited to his mansion, Northanger Abbey. Catherine falls for the son of the General, Henry; but soon discovers that money and status have a larger role to play than love when marriage is a consideration.

Fanny Price is removed from the poverty of her childhood to live with rich relations at Mansfield Park.
