If you had invited Gabriel Garcia Marquez on the show, you likely would have got an infinitely more accurate picture of everyday life in Colombia, and of ordinary Colombians. As you no doubt realize, he is the author of "Love in the Time of Cholera" which takes place in Colombia in the early part of the 20th century.

The same old stereotype
This was a very boring discussion. What good will free trade with Colombia do Canada? We got no answer to the question except that we compete with the US to sell them beans and offroad vehicles? Is this a motivation for signing a free trade deal? What are the terms of this deal? Why would the Colombians want it? This whole subject was neatly evaded and all we got was discussion of a 40 year old civil war and the drug trade, which was evident in the title of the show - "Colombian Connection".
