TVOntario Telefest celebrates the remarkable achievements of Ontario college and university students enrolled in television, broadcast journalism, film and new media programs.

This awards competition encourages and stimulates the development of Canadian talent in the film, television, and new media industries.

Students may submit their work, through their department or program heads, in any of 11 film and video categories. New media entries may be CD-ROM or Website and may be submitted in the categories of general or experimental. A jury of industry experts assess the entries and select the finest from each category.

Finalists are announced in July, and winners at the Telefest Awards Gala in the fall. In past years, the Awards Gala has given students the opportunity to meet and network with industry luminaries such as filmmakers Atom Egoyan, Deepha Mehta, Norman Jewison, Anne Wheeler and Karen King; new media entrepreneur Keith Kocho; and Clive Smith, co-founder and Executive Vice-President of Nelvana.
