Struggle for Hope

Two celebrated artists -- Yo-Yo Ma and Kabuki virtuoso Tamasaburo Bando -- combine talents to create an emotionally charged dance performance that draws its inspiration from two very distinct worlds. As Eastern mysticism meets Western rigor, the two artists rehearse and discuss the ultimate goal: a performance starting from J.S. Bach's Fifth Suite for Solo Cello that enhances both traditions and transcends the cultural boundaries that naturally exist between them. Program includes Opening Billboard, intro by filmmaker, Niv Fichman, director of the film, and a closing Billboard.
